I soon do most laydown their grub protection? A week before planting seedling?A month before? in June? Will it have a negative inpact on the new Plantings if done at the wrong time? I really want to catch any SVB Grubs at the best time frame in order to stand a chance this year? I will be growing in a new Patch and probably don't have alot of SVB grubs but I did notice quite a few Japanese beetle grubs and crane-fly larve when I removed the sod while making the patch this fall. I have'nt hit them at all with Grub-ex yet did'nt buy any in the Fall?
Thanks

The best time to apply Grub-X is about two weeks before you transplant your seedlings. Double the application recommendations. Personally, I apply it over the entire patch. Many apply it to to immediate growing area. It provides great systemic protection for growing plants.

GPdude is correct. Earlier than one or two weeks is a waste. I also water the seedlings in with liquid Imidacloprid so as to make sure the root contact is immediate. Nothing worse than losing a seedling to Squash Bugs the day after planting but the soil applied material will take a week or more to start translocating. It takes that long for the roots to find & move the Imidacloprid especially if you get too aggressive while digging the planting hole.

Tremor,
How much of the Bayer liquid tree and shrub imidacloprid (that you get at wal-mart) would you use per gallon to water in transplants? Thats the only strength liquid I have.

I searched and I'm figureing 1 ml of 1.47% to 1 gallon of water to 4 sq.ft. when planting seedling. This is the same as 8 oz. per 1,000 sq.ft.

1 gallon per 4 sq.ft would be watering in equivalent to 4 tenths inch of rain.
