How do I get my soil able to grow a healty plant with giant car wheel sized leaves and vines the width of pop cans so I have a chance of getting a 1000pound+ pumpkin next year hopefully. I know I have to get my soil tested before I can make any changes.

Hey Nic I like C&J http://www.candjfert.com/pages/Products.html You will get a personal phone call after the test on what you need and what to add as far as soil fertility goes.

Seed Soil Sun & Luck, try and find a grower who lives by you and ask him questions. They told me, got to have seed with good genetics, soil tested with amendments, good weather helps, and luck.

Do a soil test...Send it to a seasoned grower and chat on the phone about it...I did just this with Mr. Jutras...it seems to have worked for me...I did not even add any chemical ferts this year...all organic and I kept my P levels down since i was using mycrorhize(sp?)...I also did not add any manure...

Nic,
Craig will tell you how to amend in the fall and spring. Now is the time to get started. E-mail Craig and let him know the soil sample is on the way.
What I especially like about the test from Midwest Labs is the pie chart comparing your soil to ideal soil for growing AG's.

Come to think of it, he may be busy working weigh-offs right now. Expect to see him at Circleville.

Craig is in the process of modifying his program to fit the desires of growers. He was in Circleville questioning growers about what they liked and didn't like about the program.
