for those of you that use soil warming cables how far down do you bury the cables in the ground? Do you do this in the Fall(after ammending the patch) typcally or early spring?
Thanks

I use one cable for 2 plants if planted back to back. 3 circles around each plant hole. I bury the cables about 6" deep and do it a week or so before planting.

It is absolutely CRITICAL that you check the thermostat area and make sure it's water tight. If not seal it up with some caulking so you don't rust out the stat and burn up the cable. Don't ask.

I put my cables down 10-12 inches, just at planting time, one cable per hole. See my diary in April for pics.
