I went to starbucks today to see if I could get some grounds for the patch...They said they arn't saving them and will start back up in spring..I have had a link to the policy but it was a dead end...anyone know if in the policy it says they don't have to save during winter? There is a more neighborhood friendly coffe shop with in walking distance I might go to.

Thats the way they do it where I live also, some of the starbucks have barrels they put them in, you can walk in and just gab the bag of them. I usually grab whatever they have on hand when I go in even if they don't have any in the barrel I grab what they have behind the counter being it winter or spring.

The Starbucks where I live would always give me what they had anytime I asked for them. Lately, though, I've been going to a Target store that has a Starbucks. They save grounds for me to pick up on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. They're just glad for me to get rid of them!

I used to get that reply when I first started gathering grounds. I had better luck with those stores if I ordered a cup of coffee then asked for the grounds while I was waiting. Tipping helped as well. There are alot of Starbucks "regulars" that collect grounds and if they're in there everyday buying coffee and asking for grounds, there won't be many left anyway.
You could also talk to the "Green" Manager, each store has one. If you can convince them that you'll be there everyday to pick up, they might just save them for you. To answer your question, they don't have to save them for give away at any time of the year, it's not a policy per se. It really is a pain in the butt for them to collect them, they'd much rather throw them out.

Russell Stover small boxes of Chocalates cost me 4 for $1.50 and when I drop them off at starbucks I pick up grounds. When I come in the door they have grounds behind the counter waiting for me!

I might go get buckets w/lid for my local coffe shop to give grounds...How long it take for that bucket to fill up at starbucks? This place has more buisness since it is about third the cost.

I got grounds whenever I went last year. They will not save them for you and they don't let you go in their dumpster. They would only give me what they could take out of their coffee machines when I arrived...I got funny looks at first but they got used to seeing me. I put in over 100 pounds of grounds last year and the worms loved it in the spring...haven't got any this year since I don't drive by a starbucks anymore...

My complaint was heard! My mom went to a starbucks other than the one I had gone to origanly and got two bags of coffee grouds. So I went to the one where they said they no longer keep them in the winter. They had some. So since it is on my moms way home she stops there for me. The was a bountiful harvest today, 3 bags from on store and 2 from another. Anyway the guy at the starbucks was helping my mom get it out to the car and my mom said " WOW! I am suprised you have some" and the guy said " Ya, someone contacted regional and complained" I was over-joyed when I heard that. Been puting some on the patch and compost pile. get it to heat up. I was thinking gee. don't got a very big pile. So I had "duh" moment and thought I could put flyer at the houses of people who have maple trees and offer to take the leaves away for free. I can easly count 1- maple trees on my block. which is one of the smaller blocks.
