There are rare circumstances where MG might be toxic in which case it can be cropped off.

In 99% of all the soil test questions, MAG simply looks high on the percent saturation when compared to the other cation elements. Being a cation element you simply need to raise potash & calcium to achieve the balance you want to see on that report.

Modern agronomists like me pay no attention to the "percents" because that area doesn't matter. We instead need to make sure the soil nutrient reservoir can "meet the minimums" of the crops needs.

As fate would have it, anytime we repair the reported minimums the ratios end up falling into line.

Do a google for "mehlich ratio' when you have some free time. Just please don't take it as gospel.

Knowing your MG reported 300+ ppm is meaningless without the knowing other cation elements.
