here is another. i have been reading as much as i can about soil hydraulics and the wicking effect of zeolite. the lateral transfer of water from wet soggy areas to dry areas through wicking capillary action should help evenly distribute water throughout the patch and hold onto it longer, yet at the same time have good flowability of excess water in heavy rains. some have relayed to me about the worries of the soil holding too much water and possibility of diseases if zeolite is added. everything i have read so far shows that adding it will improve the soil moisture retaining abilities to evenly keep a thirsty plant like an AG from being thirst free. and then the cec improvements and abilities to react with calcium, potassium and magnesium and the capillary action of the zeolite to help move these through the soil and make them available for longer periods of time without leaching are also major benefits. the only thing i have read to throw up a possible red flag is the increase in soil ph. i have to use sulfur every year to bring my ph down due to high ph in city water so this i have to keep my eye on in my situation and make sure my addition of zeolite doesn't push me too high in the 7s. many golf coarses are looking into it for their putting greens for the lateral water movement abilities and curing "hot spots" or browning of patches on the putting surface. i like the science and just thought i would share these reads.
