I'm relatively new to growing giant pumpkins and have never had a soil test done. Any recommendations where to get one? I live in PA. Thanks!

Many growers in the northeast use Umass for their tests with excellent results. $15 for a test.

Western Labs was used by Ron Wallace last year, and Christy Harp, among others, uses the lab. $45 for a test.

A & L western labs is another favorite among heavy hitters. $35

I would get in touch with the the Pennsylvania growers to find out who they use.

I have used U-mass and Western Labs in Idaho. U-mass will give you an innexpensive and accurate test but don't expect much from them as far as recommendations. Western Labs will cost you more but they are very involved with Giant Pumpkin Growers and have even developed specialized soil and tissue testing programs specifically for serious AG growers. They will give you recommendations on what to add to your soil that are specifically taylored to AGs.
