I have a lot of used duck bedding (nickel sized pine shavings)that I would like to use as weed prevention mulch on my AGs and melons. It has been spread outside about 6 inches thick in the rain all winter. It had a lot of duck manure and some laying mash pellets in it when spread.
Is it safe to use as mulch or will it burn my plants or deplete nitrogen?

I don't think it will tie up too much nitrogen, as long as you don't till the wood chips in. Check out the link it talks about mulches that will lower your soils pH.

Pine mulch of any kind is real acidic.it makes great mulch to keep weeds out.but if you look under a pine tree thicket not much else grows there.
