Currently my pH is at 7.6 which is too high.

I came across a 10 pound bag of 90% Elemental Sulfur which is supposed to lower pH by 1 point per 1,000 sq. ft.

Would adding 10 pounds of this elemental sulfur in the spring to eventually lower my pH to around 6.6 be the way to go? My sulfur is at 28ppm 6" deep and at 38ppm 24" deep.Will this then make my sulfur levels too high??

Any suggestions at all to lower my pH would help. Thanks!

I add 50 lbs of elemental sulfur each spring on 5000 sq ft my ph was 7.5, 17 years ago it now stays around 6.9

I do the same as both said above, peat and sulfur. Mine runs between 7.0 and 8.0 and I'm able to get it right in the sweet spot each year.

I was taught by one of the best that is really hard to get your sulfur to high doing this.

Thanks! I'll definitely go with peat moss and sulfur. Would you recommend adding the sulfur to the patch all at once in early spring then till it in?

I just added some in the fall when I planted my mustard,,, mine always creeps up. I'll test again in March then send my test results to the master " Cecil " and add exactly what he comes up with.

Pumpkin plants do well in high sulfur so the above recommendations are good.

If you do a web search, Elemental Sulfur is best added in the Spring, as it takes the warm weather to convert it into a acid to lower soil Ph.

It sounds like ten pounds would be just right. Ammonium sulfate could be used if you have good reasons for adding nitrogen.

But probably too much nitrogen by the time you added the ten pounds of sulfur. The ten pounds nitrogen over 1000 sq ft would be like 200 ppm?.. Sorry I can’t double check that..,maybe tomorrow.
