I saw an advertisement in the local paper where the local sewer plant was giving away what they call class A soil enhancer. Essentially I guess it is a by product made from processed human waste. It is supposed to be rich in organics, lime, and nitrogen. Has anyone every used this stuff before to grow pumpkins? What effects do you think it would have if I added it to the soil in the fall?

I am usually sceptical of these materials. Therefore I would request a full nutrient & metals report before comitting to it's use.

That said, when made correctly & to good standards, these "bio-solid" based amendments can be VERY good.

Stan Pugh uses a material like this & he has grown some thousand pounders in it.

Stan,

I checked out the website you posted and it sounds very similar to the stuff I saw advertised. If I pick it up it is free so maybe I will try a test patch of it this next year and if I get good results it may be incorporated to the entire patch. Thanks for all the feedback guys!
