Hi All, it must be near planting time over here. I have just seeded up a 1537 Stelts and an delaying for a fortnight my own cross from last season. Just waiting for this wet weather to pass. I am based in south East Queensland and would be pretty keen to get some sort of competition going. I also have plenty of seedlings from my own crosses seeded up to give to anyone interested in getting hooked to this sport. Cheers Clinton

Hi Clinton, I to am waiting for this rain to stop, hoping to get them in mid to late october. I am based on the mid north coast NSW and share a similar climate to south east queensland. This year i am also trying long gourds. seeded them about 3 weeks ago and already 18 inches tall, they really love this rain we are getting. good luck this year. Ben.

Bluebanjo, Whereabouts on the mid north coast? I am trying to organise a comp. I have given out heaps of seeds and even plants to try and stimulate some interest in this great sport. It would be really good if we could get a GPC affiliated event in the next couple of years. Cheers Clinton

Hi Clinton and Ben, I live near Melbourne and grow about 12 plants a year. I have also been waiting for the rain to stop, I will be planting in the next week. I plan to start up a comp next year. There are 2 comps in Victoria that I know of.

Clinton, Im just north of Port Macquarie and have found that the local shows dont have many giant vegetables. Earlier this year I went to the Kootingal pumpkin festival just north of Tamworth for a look. They have all the scales and forklift ect and was run realy well with good prizes. So far Im planning to enter next year if all goes well this season. It is a long drive (3 hours) but I feel its worth it.
Ben.
