Hi, My name is Ray Villafane. I am a sculptor who has won notarity for my pumpkin carvings. Food Network is looking to tape their 3rd Outrageous Pumpkin Challenge this upcoming May. They asked me if I knew where they might be able to find quality pumpkins that can be harvested in May and shipped to the US. They are looking for concrete leads...not just a country or area of the world. Does anybody have and leads that I might be able to forward to them? Please e-mail me at ray@villafanestudios.com
Here is a picture of a recent carving I completed. Happy Halloween.

awesome carving. im in New Zealand, we here have pumpkins ready and fresh at that time of year. not sure how you/we would go about exporting them though. regarding the carving, how long does a carving last before it deteriorates? is there a coating you put on to protect it?
cheers

Ray, I agree!!! Awesome carving, import of such a fruit might be difficult, but am sure that Food Network could work around all difficulties!!! Go to Diaries, check out the one's from NZ, Australia, etc. See if they got a pkn goin well, contact that person, by clicking on envelope at top of diary!!! Hope this helps!!! Peace, Wayne PS...How big was the pkn in the link?

Macivo...In addition to Food Network possibly wanting pumpkins I am personally considering flying to the location of the pumpkins to carve on site as it is much easier. I just need photos and such of the carvings. I am interested in some of these huge ones but do you, or someone you know have smaller pumpkins in the 40-100lb. range? Is May the ideal time for pumpkins there?

Ray, here in Australia April/May is the time for pumpkins. As for smaller ones, I suppose it would be possible to plant now and grow them with multiple sets to get 40-100 lbs. How many pumpkins are you after? Ben.
