I want to thank Doug and Sonya Adams of Carrollton, GA for organizing the meeting for growers in the SE USA. It was attended by Keith Peden, Wallace Simmons, Brian Fawcett, Dennis Carswell, Bob Hipps, Doug Adams and myself. Mike Nepereny had a family emergency and was not able to attend (his wifes birthday). Ray Upchurch was unable to attend because of family obligations. Craig Peden was unable to attend due to illness. If I missed someone, I apologize. It was a very good meeting, growers sharing information and seeds. I would like to thank Paul McIntyre who donated seeds sent to Brian Fawcett for sharing at the meeting. The State record holders of Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina were in attendance. I am asking that Brian Hildebrand post this message to Big Pumpkins. Thanks Doug and Sonya Adams: Bob Attaway Flowery Branch, Georgia

May be interested in this 'growers meeting' though, it'll be This fall before I have any extra seeds - from my first experimental year with giants (though I've grown everything else organically over the years....)
I'm trying to find out where some 'weigh ins' are? I've shown poultry at the Dickson county, TN fair and the TN state fair - over the years.. I do remember seeing some GP - but I don't know if it was officially weighed in.
Also, if I have a ton of them can my children and students be given the extras to show in 4-H? I believe that my engineer Fiancee' can come up with a pallet w/wheels so that we can load/unload 4-5 GP in my 6 horse slant horse trailer.. I know that trailer/truck can handle the weight **grin** It has a ramp - that will make winching them in easier.

Sounds like a plan to me teach!!! Get in touch with "Southern" on this site and he will lead you in the right direction. Good luck to you! Your kids and yourself will be proud showing AGs at 4-H. Outside the GPC you can do whatever you want with your "fruits of labor!!"
