Just a nu-B's info...but from what I have heard...sandy soil will need water on a very frequent basis, because it drains well. Needs lots of OM. Keep on askin ?'s...try 'New growers forum'...seems to get more responses. Have fun and grow 'em big. Peace Wayne

Mix that peat in. Get some real old wood compost and old cow/horse/chicken poop.
