So I've got a new theory...
I suspect we southern growers have less issues with pupmkins splitting, because our beloved behemoths grow a bit slower and don't get as big as the northern growers.
Can any of you more experienced growers tell me whether you've had problems with this or not?
I'll still take the normal precautions of course - steady watering, a little calcium also. But I'm thinking about hitting the fertilizer very heavily and not worrying as much about splitting.
