I would like to congratulate Jim Doll and Sam Lovelace on a great weigh off. The weigh off was just a part of an entire town festival.
It was a lot of fun and Sams giant pumpkin was great to see. They had 2 pumpkins over 1,000 lbs.
I plan to attend annually: Bob Attaway

Bob, thanks for the kind words, it was great to have you. It was only fitting for you to be here to see Eldon's record setting long gourd from the seed you gave him in Waynesville at our annual meeting. This is why this is such a great sport, everyone shares with everyone else and records are broken almost every year! ....on another note we also need to thank several other people which I meant to do before now (sorry)special thanks to Brad for the scales and all the hard work....Misty at the Chamber has been a blessing to us all, she puts alot of time into this event for all of us, without her Sam and myself would be lost as far as the planning goes!

I drove to the festival from Mars Hill and saw Sam’s very impressive state record pumpkin. This was my first weigh in. I kind of expected to see allot more pumpkins there but was not disappointed with the quality of what I saw. I got to meet Sam who very much impressed me with his willingness to talk and share his experience. I also met several others, sorry if I don't remember your name. Every one was very nice and I look forward to meeting everyone at the next meeting in Waynesville. I will try to bring my own giant next year.
