Hello southern friends, just wondering what your estimated start dates are this year (transplanting in the ground)? Thanks

I'm looking at trying to transplant into the patch the first week of May. I have found over the years that any earlier is just asking for trouble with this unpredictable Virginia climate! lol

My plants go in the patch in about 2-4 days. I usually aim for March 1-15. I might try early Feb. next year.

Count back 110 days (or so) from yer weigh-off & you have yer start date!!! You might have to adjust a lil to prepare for midnite run to hospital w/ yer wife!!! LOL Early weighoff dates, will prbly require a lil plant protection (hoophouse/mini greenhouse, heat cables, heaters, don't forget to open the hoops on sunny days, etc) Peace, Wayne

Thanks guys. Mark I'm in a similiar lattitude as you, but you guys get much more snow. Brodie, that's great - good luck to you this season. Wish I was starting soon.

Wayne, have not fished since 3 weeks ago. I'm going later today and we are camping tonight. We got a ton of rain last night and I think the river is way up, so it might just be playing some washers and standing by the fire.
