Fellow Growers, We are happy to announce that with some 38 people contacting us, we have more then enough people to start off our SGPG. Currently our website is made on a free format. Once we receive the membership dues, we will purchase a domain name for the SGPG, and improve the website as we go. We thank the ones among you who already have paid this seasons dues, and politely ask to please send your dues to: SGPG 809 East Main Street appt 1121 Lexington SC, 29072 Please make checks or money orders out to the SGPG Or use PayPal, and choose the GIFT option and send your money to: sgpgrowers@gmail.com (Using the GIFT option means PayPal will not charge us any fees so please use this option.) For now all dues will be for maintaining the website and to cover all cost for both that, and the seed distribution later this year (after season) The last newletter of year will have the clubs financial numbers, so you never have to guess or wonder what your money has been used for. Then halfway through March we will sent out our first of 4 newsletters this year. This first one will be full with good tips, reminders for the beginning of the season, articles about pests, soil test, and a 10 question interview with Steve Daletas. I hope that everybodies starting to get ready for the new season. Although its still cold and rainy now, its gonna be 98F with 99% humidity before you know it. So you better get ready!! I hope that y'all are just excited about this new initiative as we are and I hope we can reap the fruits of our labor very soon. Then last but not least, we might be contacting some of you soon for your full address. This we need for the seeds later this year, and any things that might need to be sent your way. Best regards Frank & Tina http://sgpgrowers.wix.com/homepage#

Thanks for the pack of marigold seeds. Are they the type that help repel some of the harmful insect species ? I think these will be beneficial even without a contest connected to them. Thanks !

Yes they are the ones that help repel insects. We have had them in our patch the past two years and yes they have helped. Also the underground workings of the Marigolds will repel Nematodes (microscopic worms) and other pests for up to 3 years. So that is why we decided to give out a packet of them to all our members, to help promote companion planting. We hope that all that receives the Marigolds plants them and enter the contest. :)
