My best plant is the 1843 Geddes, seeded on 4/14 it is out about 4'. Great plant! After that I have 4 plants that were seeded 4/23. All these have been beaten up at transplant. Cold ground temps then a hail storm in their first week has em looking a little old and ugly but they are coming around. Then I seeded my last batch on 5/7. Had 3 beauties before transplanting 1554,1811,1843,and a decent 1509 Sweet Jr plant. I hope they will do better in the transplant than my others. I have some culling to do and will replace some older plants today. How is everyone else in the south doing?

So far stellar, mains out to 12-18' feet in one case, secondarys at 5-8', dang if there isn't a pumpkin at almost every single joint on the mains. Not looking forward to picking the keepers- they are all growing like crazy!

Central NC is where I'm at. I'm just getting started this year with some store bought seed. It was 125ish" OTT yesterday.

I have 2 pkns set on 2 different 564.4 Holder plants. I set out 5 plants, but have had a problem with abortions this year. The 2 that I have set are both selfed. They aren't the ones I otiginally wanted, but at 16 and 17 days old with day 15 measurements being 59" and 60", I'll take them. All this rain needs to start spacing itself out and giving us some sunny days! Weeding is in FULL swing!

It's rough here. First year, still working on my poor soil and then I got hit with SVBs along with too much rain followed by hot, hot sun.

I'm still in the game after taking a beating with my early plants. This is my 2nd year taming the beasts. I have learned a lot from my failures this year and from the good people on BP. My season recap:
I planted 9 total sites/plants between 4/28 and 5/7. Only one is still alive(1843 Geddes). I replanted 5 of the sites with 3 plants still kicking. God has been good to me because my last plant(1649 Lancaster)was seeded on 6-15 and set out on 6-23 is doing great. It is about 10 ft with runners 3+ ft. I will post a pic in my diary. Good Luck to ya'll in this heat.

105 heat index today. Green monsters blossom started rotting, cut out the bad, dosed with daconil yesterday- looks good today and growing 3" every 24 hours. 35" 11 DAP
Scrappy is growing her usual 2" a day...all on top, shes a roll over for sure, and very strange looking...her skin has mountians and valleys. Not warts or rot, just crazy skin. She is a PW and 44.5" at 20 DAP
Finally C is ridiculous, shes a dills and at 15DAP is 30" Finally D is the funkiest thing out there...she looks like a cave man club but is growing 3" a day, shes 24" 10 DAP
The 'Dinosaur eggs' are the fastest out there- growing 4.5" a day and both are dead even at 35" 10 DAP
My two old girls, carnival and mr orange are sashaying along at a 1/2" a day, both Prize winners. 25 DAp and carnival is 54.5" and Mr Orange is 46.75"
Then there is Windy, the little pumpkin that could: she set on a snapped off main that broke off 4" from the stump. She is damned near square and grows 2" a day no matter the heat, rain, fertilizer, no fertilizer.
