OK, the 3rd annual meeting was Sunday in Dillard and if you missed it, you definitely missed some primo info. We had a couple very knowledgable pumpkin and fungus/fungicides specialists that gave out words of wisdom I found invaluable. We had Al Eaton and his vast experience explaining some growing techniques and tips never heard by other growers before. In short..it was some of the best information I've ever come across. It just does'nt get much better.
NOW....I think it's time to get organized and start this ball really rolling. Unlike some other pumpkin organizations, and in typical Southern fashion, we're a rather laid back and loose bunch. Our numbers are steadily increasing and the fever has definitely come South. I want to help make us "official" but the support has to be there.
I'm proposing a formal charter, if you will, with membership, newsletter, dues, patch tours, our own weigh-off (or official recognition of an existing one), raffles/ fundraisers, get-togethers, etc.
I need your support Southern growers! Either e-mail me private or respond on the message board if you're with me and we can get this thing done.
It's time for the Southern growers to stand up and be counted for!

I'm interested in talking and learning more about it and your possible plans, BF
PS. I think I could procure a weigh-off site with 30,000 people already attending the Pumpkintown, SC annual Pumpkin Festival.

Kyle I think thats a great idea. I am new to AG growing and have a couple of friends that will be starting this year also. I would be willing to help as much as I can. Keep us posted on what you have cooking. Sam

lets hope we can get a few BIGGENS grown down here to get people into AG growing.
Kyle is there any weigh-off sites in the South? except for state fairs etc.

Still waiting on dues from those expressing interest in joining up. I've gotten manny e-mail replies but only 4 snail mail replies.
It's gonna take funds for a newsletter fellas. The website and logo will be up soon. Several folks and the OVPG have donated seed to the seed bank.
