Im in northern Kentucky and we're having cooler morning temps right now.Daily highs are lower than normal as well for this time of year. This could give a little additional time for pollinations as temps are getting in that risky range by the end of June typically. Im helping my daughter so I hope she can find some success. How are everyones temps looking for later pollinations this month?

It seems like a week lost here too. THe sun was tucked behind a ton of smoke in the atmosphere. It was definitely eery and also chilly for this time of year. I guess it is, what it is. Maybe a later pollination will be helpful as it will have a younger fruit that is rapidly growing not just sitting in the heat and humidity. Who knows when that best window for growth will be.

We have not been near normal on temps here either. Very different year. The earliest I ever got one on was 6/19 so any June pollination is on time.(for me) Unless you compare yourself to the 5 or so guys in the world that start the first week of March. :)
Melons pollinate good in the heat. You will probably be loaded in males by then. Cover the baby with a chair or something. I use homemade 28" tall tables with burlap or 70% aluminet so you get airflow. Also a baby fan blowing beside it, not on it . moisten the area will help a few degrees. Good luck!
