Ok Folks…Its time for a squash seed contest!

I am running a contest on our 905 Vincent-McGill 09* seed. It is 1132 Vincent-McGill 08* x 800 Neily*. This is the reverse cross of the World Record 1236 Vincent-McGill 09*. As you know, reverse crosses tend to be the better seed. i.e. 842 Eaton, 998 Pukos, 1385 Jutras, 1421 Stelts…..oh....crap…that’s right!

If you send me a bubble and $3 for return postage, I will send you 2, 905* seeds. The largest squash grown in 2011 from this seed will win your pick od seeds from my personal seed collection of over 3000 AG seeds!

The contest conditions are that the fruit must be weighed at a GPC sanctioned weigh off and it must meet the GPC squash colour rule.

Now… here is some background on the 905*. The fruit was a very nice colour:

http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=122199

and was on chart for weight. The 1132*did not meet the colour rule (barely). The 1132 has produced 100% squash at a top 5 variance of + 11.32%. The 1236* was 8.54% heavy!
So…what have you got to gain? Pick of the one of the best seed collections out there…oooahhh!

If you grow a WR, $2500 in GPC money, of course a green jacket (much more fashionable than orange) and the nicest trophy you ever did see!

Anyway, If interested send me an e-mail: j.vincent@xplornet.ca

I have been corrected, very polity i might add, that I am incorrect in my reverse cross analogy on the 1385 and the 1421. However, another very good example of my theory is the 1161 Rodonis. This grower also pointed out the both crosses have equal genetic potential and the evidence that the reverse cross is better is purely anecdotal....anyway, I still believe in it....that's why the 1421 Stevens is on my short list this year!

Anyway, I stand corrected....thanks Scott!

John, I was planning on growing the 1132 but I have no problem growing the 905 instead. I already have a couple seeds of both. You decide and I'll do it.
