Just curious as to how the season has started for you green machiners. My pics of my Hester 895 I just posted to my diary, green is in full swing here. Wayne, G, all you green jacket seekers, how is it going?

It's been a horrible Squash season here, the horror, the horror... Hee, hee, hee... On a happier note the Hatten 201 Watermellon has a huge one on, the field pumpkin weighs 19#, and the pumpkins are in full swing!

Had a nice set on my 625 Welty til my chickens decided it was lunch time...After the taste test,,they decided it wasnt what they really wanted,,so they left it alone after the damage was done..Poor Chickens...lol...

My 675* is at 25' length, and I'm about to set a fruit at 23'. Plant is a little lean on secondaries and leaves, but very healthy looking.

I have the first couple set on the 895 Hester plant, but it's a sorry looking little plant that doesn't want to grow secondaries. Still waiting on the first females on the 576 Michalec, should be Thursday or Friday. Going camping this weekend so I hope I get them. It's a very robust looking plant and the females are a nice green.

I have a 7/4 pollination on my 585 Larue (744 Welty x 611 Hester) and should have one by this weekend on the 675 Hester. Of the seven plants in the patch these two squash are easily the nicest.

My 1000 lb hope lies in the 312 Welty, the fruit with the most promise is presently 6 days old ( self pollinated on 7-14) and has a 18" circ.

I have green fruit set on the 675 Hester and the 585 Larue. The Larue fruit is definitely ourperforming the Hester fruit but we have a long way to go.

The first 1000 pound greenie from the South? I don't think anyone would bet on that;)
