When choosing pumpkin seed i favor the white/round, rather than the long caramel! Why???? nothing sientific?? but my limited experience is white /round grow beutiful ORANGE???? Ive harvested 3 Squash and all have been CARAMEL!.... Do the greenies have different shapes & colors???

Seed color and shape don't necessarily relate to color...most pumpkin seed overall are caramel. What white, round seed have you grown?

Tan/brown seeds have a second layer present. White seeds are missing that layer.

Like Kyle said, it doen't affect fruit color. It's just another quirky trait that may or may not express itself in some lines.

I wonder if anyone has ever kept a list of "white seed" ags.

if anyone has, add my 628 olsen 03 dmg. it is 805 x self and the seeds are pure white. the outer layer as Steve mentioned is entirely missing.

every white seed ive grown has been orange!!!! can anyone say differant???? seed color/shape/size has always been part of my notes! and later probably determines cross! If given two seeds from a famous grower one HUGE/WHITE/ROUND & the other HUGE/LONG/CARMEL which do you choose?????

Our 834* had white seeds with a green tint, our 823* (834* X Self) has pure white seeds, betcha the 823* offspring fruit is dark green like its momma....

to anyone reading this, do not decide what you will plant based on seed color. it is just the very first thing that
is evident from the new genetic combination that has been created by crossing two plants. there are numerous different types and colors of AG seeds ranging from pure white to off-white with a hint of tan in them, to pock-marked almost dark brown ones that surely were of strictly pumpkin origin and destination. the track record of a seed is what we all need to go by when determining our choices for each season.
