How are you folks handling the heat? It was 97 degrees in my patch yesterday when I got home. I have some severe wilt damage on my biggest plant. I think that it really hasn't had time to put down good secondary rooting to supply moisture to the tips. The smaller plants still look OK. Any break from the heat coming?

In about a week, around Canada Day, it is supposed to cool down from the 30's (Celsius) to the 20's.

Check out The Weather Network's website for details on your town/city/village: http://www.weathernetwork.ca/

I look at the "Lawn and Garden Forecast" (on the menu to the right) every day.

Crammed, Agree I check the weathernetwork.com daily as
it changes on a daily basis LOL, But ya this heat has been a killer, Ive found myself by mid afternoon that ive been misting my plants and within 15 minutes they are perked back up and stay up rest of the day, when my plants were smaller I was useing an old picknick ( plastic ) table over the plants for shade and they worked well while the plants were small.

Phil, I looked at my patches at 1am by flashlight and found some good vine growth since Sat morning. I can't really tell for sure yet but I think I have one coming on my 695* which was pollinated on Sat. at 4:30 am. Yesterday it was 97*f in Windsor and 95 in Kitchener. I got the soaker hose down just in time this year. We need a good set of thundershowers to roll about now to stave off this dry spell. No rain yesterday does not cure what my patches biggest current need is right now. Only 90*f today but still dry.

Yup Kitchener was in the high 90's both saturday and sunday. Today again along with all week, First week in July looks like temps are going to lower down into the 24-25 range ( PERFECT FOR POLLINATIONS ) i currently have 2 females on my 926 Hunt plant one is currently just showing and around the 7 ft mark on the main by the time it opens it should be around the 8 ft mark and in a good location. Hopefully shes ready for first week in july, because with these temps we are haveing now it would be very hard for pollinations to take.

heat is fine....plants like it for growth, just need to water more.....had very little wilting this year.......maybe because I starved my plants for water early on to get them to put down deeper roots...Phil it all averages out
