just wondering how many of the club here on bp have ordered a commerative big pumpkins.com banner?
most who owned a site like this would charge for auctions etc. ken has not done that though it is his right to do so. a banner purchase is a great way of saying thank you while at the same time sending a small contribution back to bp.c
a couple months ago a lot of people thought this was a wonderfull idea? where did they go? ........ thanks pap

I'm wondering if people were put off that a mandatory donation fee was pinned into the banner cost? With alot of clubs running bare bones, I could see them try to skip extra expense, even though they would like to have one? Maybe they will use the idea and create their own? It is indeed wonderful that bigpumpkins.com is free. But I'm sure if fees were applied, groups in that bare bones category might work more to find an alternative free way to auction seeds. I'm sure it's a touchy subject and most people won't speak their thoughts.

Maybe a seed auction, money used to buy registered GPC clubs a banner, the rest giving to Bigpumpkins.com? My two cents worth.

A alternative way to hold a auction has proved to be very hard. The Ohio valley held one on their site & the large # of people crashed their chatroom. The Southern Ohio club had the exact same problem. Folks don't really know how great this site is run till you try a different option. I think Ken would be well within his right to charge 5-10% of each auctions results to hold it here. Without this site every auction would only get ( in my opinion) 1/3 of what they get here. Do you have any idea why each weighoff is able to pay what they do? BigPumpkins.com....end of story, period. Clubs who don't help him are just spitting on him. ....Paul

Hold on, seed auctions are not free. I charge $100 per night to host and advertise seed auctions. New clubs (first timers) get it for $50. I have stuck with the flat fee because I know clubs need the auctions to raise their prize money for their weigh-offs.
Also, I charge for advertising. I am sure you have all noticed the ads on the home page and in the chat rooms. These are paid advertisements. I need them to cover the operational costs of this website.
Bori could sell the banners without the donation as far as I am concerned. I benefit from the advertising the banner provides anyway.
Someday not all of BigPumpkins.com will be free. I am considering a premium membership with an annual fee. With this fee will come premium features.

My 2 cents worth~ I tried to get my small Lawn mowed for $20 bucks last summer from the kid next door just one time! Didn't happen i think he wanted a dental plan to go with it!
So donation or membership fee for premium use of educational web sites such as:
AGGC, AND BIGPUMPKINS.COM. Both are part of my life that help me with my passion, and round out my being. So fees for both would be cheap, and are cheap. if both charged a fee, that last a year that still would be less than a full tank of gas that might last 2 weeks.
The work that Mike, and Ken do i'm convinced is much more than mowing a small lawn, to say the least, and i'm a better person for their effort.
Fee or donation Yes to both! Thanks guy's Roger:)

its unfortunate that more people have not ordered a bp banner to display at their weigh-offs. i only got the ball rolling on this banner project because many of you growers thought it was a great idea and indicated it was something you would like to have for your club/weigh-off.

As a member of the club I belong two, if they did'nt already have two banners, I would buy them one. You can't tell me these clubs who have had auctions, raffles, sell seeds, that have made thousands of dollars using Bigpumpkins.com can't afford a Bigpumpkin banner.

How about a seed auction, every seed or seeds bid on comes with a Bigpumpkins banner. Nothing but the best seeds donated for this. Starting bid would be at the banner price.
