Why can't these auction bids be limited to $5 at a time? That way more people could get involved and have some fun bidding on a seed. When you have people slap hundreds of dollars all at once it cuts out the fun for the little guy.Might as well just put a $1000 price tag on it,then the person with the most money could just buy it.Just like to see thing kept fun.

It was, minimum $5 at a time. Some of us just wanted it bad enough... to try to scare off the rest. This one DID get too rich for my blood, so off to have an adult beverage and sigh.

why drag it out with a whole bunch of small bids and end up not winning it anyway. so if you bid in bigger amounts it tends to better your own chance of winning the seed.

Then it's not an auction,it's a sale.People realize that some seeds will sell for a large amount of money, way out of their price range, but maybe they just want to have some fun,get in on the action. Why do people bring 200 lb pumpkins to a weigh off? They know they're not going to win,so why go? They just want to be part of the fun. If you let people slap large amounts right away, don't complain when you only have two peolple bidding.

My skills aren't good enought to pay $500.00 for a seed. However, if/when my skills develope I will.

Punk'nLvr, come to one of the live auctions then; you can join the bidding in real time, and probably find a steal or two along the way.
I started out 'broke'... I still don't have great amounts of cash; but I was willing to give it a try here. :) I got outbid fair and square.
These lots were donated to help raise funds for this website we love, so whoever wins, so does the site, so do the rest of us.

Oh forgot, there's a seed raffle that has a lot of good seeds, tickets are reasonable, and most everyone that buys a ticket does win... look for that. (I think OGVG does it).
Plus the occasional guess a contest, and several clubs have wonderful membership promos for joining. There's many ways to join in on the great winter seed adventures.
