Maybe its just me, but i would like to see the seed lots for the auctions put up sooner. Don't know if it is the clubs choice or Ken's. But i would like to see the different lots, from each club.
Just thought i'd ask. Danny Reeb

For this weekend, it's my fault, not Ken's. We're finishing up the document. Should have it ready for Ken tomorrow.

Clubs are welcome to submit their auction lot lists as early as they want to. I will list them on the auction schedule page within a day or two of receiving them (usually within 24 hours).

Good post Danny. As the secretary and auction organizer for the SOGPG, I can tell you it's a LOT of work to get an auction list well in advance of an auction.
First, I have to keep tabs of all the weighoffs and the monsters weighed at all of them. Next, I try to locate the e-mail address of the grower I wish to solicit for a donation if I don't already have it and contact them.
After receiving a reply to my e-mail, I send out SASB's immediately after receiving confirmation. But I still can't put the auction together until I have the seeds in-hand. Many growers I solicit have donated their pumpkin to one exhibit or another and it takes time for those seeds to be retrieved. Other growers pick a certain date to process all their bubble requests. Some growers I never hear from for confirmation of receipt of my SASB.
All this doesn't include the BP.com auction date drawing. Ken draws the clubs at random on one night here on BP.com and I have dates in mind, but they are often taken up by clubs who have choice ahead of me. The date selection process can be fast and furious on selection night.
OK. Now we have auction date'(s). I go through all the bubbles and the seed stash I have for auctions and try to put together a line-up which will raise the most money possible for our club. Sometimes I put lots together that don't get the most bang for our seed, but I'm only human.
I then get the list to Ken ASAP and wait for it to get posted, keeping in mind that Ken also has another life.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not venting. If I didn't enjoy the challenge, I wouldn't do it. All club auction organizers go through pretty much the same process. Have you hugged your club secretary today?

BTW,
I want to thank all the growers and groups who so generously donated to our group this year. You all truly are the heart of this hobby.

I sorta think, that it is "when" Ken receives the list, not Ken bein a slacker!!! Most growers groups are waiting to perfect their auction list, and that takes time...especially the groups that got the early auction dates!!! Seeds take time to dry!!! I give Kudo's to awl who donate to clubs, for auctions...their efforts are what makes it happen & to Ken D. for making the sun rise in the morning!!!!LOL Where would we be w/out him? Peace, Wayne

No one has hugged me today, but then, we have a seed chairman who handles the auction for our club.
Neal Leland Secretary, PGVG
PS - as someone who has helped organize these things, I agree it can be a pain in the butt; but as someone who likes to plan ahead for auctions, I also agree with Danny; and I agree with everyone on what a stellar job Ken does with this site. This may be the most agreeable post I've ever made...

Not pointing this at you Dan, but Amen Joe!,,,first auction I have ever tried to run, and its not a easy task at all I have found out!,,lol, I cant put the seeds up until I know I have all the seeds. Then it needs to be put into a adobe format which I know zero about,,, so Im making the list and then sending it to one of the best seed Auctioneers and computer programmer this site has ever seen , and thats, TOM Privita,,LOL
Next year Im hoping I can bribe Al Gibson to take over and do Barnesville seed auction, cause this man is a machine when it comes to those kinds of things! (Just kidding Al, I know you have your hands full enough!,lol)
