Although I donated for some of these auctions, I am concerned that it is getting too crowded. I am also concerned that a pumpkins vs. watermelons battle might be on the horizon. I can't see any clouds but I sure can smell the rain.

To be honest I don't even look at them. I check this message board to see what's new & if it's all silent auction posts I just go to the next message board on BP.

We will have a chat room auction next year. We will get put into the schedule with Ken when he draws. We didn't even start the club till feb 5th, so there was no time to plan & put together a regular auction. If we had started last year we would have. Thanks for you patience. We all like to grow, many of us grow both. Thats the spring rains you all smell ! ;)

When Team Lunatic decided to have an auction we decided against this type because we all agreed that when the board gets so full of them like it is now we don't even bother to look anymore....too much to wade through. That being said I have picked up some real bargains in the past on this type of auction....not good if you are the one holding the auction. BTW The Team Lunatic Auction to support Woodbridge Fair GPC Weigh-off will be held on the GVGO site from March 7-20. Stay tuned for more info about that.

I initially was going to have a chat auction, until I realized that there is no way I would of been able to keep up with it on my own. I did this auction for the kids, all by myself. Watermelon seeds have kicked up alot of clubs auctions, for that you should be thankful! So what if the boards get crowded? BOTH the auctions you all speak of "crowding" the board are for great causes, bid if you want, move on if you don't.

It's all good I'm bidding on both auctions and having fun. Thats the reason we are all here Is to have fun and enjoy growing . watermelons, pumpkins it don't matter. if it's not fun anymore it's not a hobby . Enjoy it ... My 2 cents.

A lot of us do grow both,I can go either way,I guess that makes me Bi-fruital,These are growing pains, the over crowding is good it means things are happening! This is Kens site,If no one is breaking the rules then I guess its all good.We will do a live auction next year as Chris has stated. We could have a little common courtesy & ask more Questions before posting.I myself will try & do this in the future.

I wish all of the auctions the best of luck. I was particularly touched by Dewight's auction for the little league scoreboard. Sometimes I like a non-pumpkin oriented auction where the seeds go for a good cause other than prize money. Not always but that's for each of us to decide for ourselves. I'm just concerned that this is the tip of the iceberg; that an organization could post an entire array of auction lots and find themselves booted off the main page before anyone even has a chance to look at them. I know personally I don't usually venture past the first page of message posts. Every club or good cause should have their chance to be seen and evaluated. With the way the website is set up right now (and no offense to Ken!!!), that might start to get difficult. I would like to see people start talking about fixing the problem before arguments break out.
One quick fix I just had was maybe you could post all of the lots for bid or maybe a few at a time on one thread, with the bidders replying to that thread stating their amount bidded and contact info, etc. Of course that could be confusing and could get mixed up. Just saying we could put our heads together to have more efficient silent auctions.

You could do 1 post listing your auction, people would then email bids to you & you email back 1 post 24 lots etc.you would be a busy boy..

Growing pains? Yes, I guess so!! This hobby, sport, addiction, is growing!!! I bid a lot less nowadays, but still search out "next page" just to see what is happening! Hopefully, this will work out good for Dewight (and the kids) & the GWG & any others who do silent auctions for a good cause!!! Sorta thinkin it will as only 1 scoreboard is needed, and GWG will go mainline in 2012!!! Major KUDO's to Ken D. for allowing (most) any & awl to use his incredible site!!!! Peace, Wayne
