What is a typical time for brewing as well as what is the longest I can brew? I have heard 12-16 hours, 24 hours 48 hours. I understand I need to use it right away.

Brewing time is dependent of a few different variables such as the dissolved oxygen levels in your brewer, the quality of compost you're using, and the amount of foods/nutrients you're adding to the tea. Also, different brewing lengths will promote different types of organisms. I realize this doesn't answer your question.... Typically, the avg. brewing length falls between 24-36 hours, but there's no magic number for all brewers.

temperature plays a key role as well 70° seems to work best here,,,an aquarium heater for this early cold season does the trick

we use the soil soup brewing system.
we brew 25 gallons at a time adding to nylon sack just before brewing three cups worm castings, three cups nutrient solution, and i also add a cup of rabbit pellets.

this time of year it takes 48 hrs to brew. once the temps get into the seventies and eighties consistantly etc, it takes 24 hrs to complete a batch.

you could also add a water heater to the water if your in a hurry

you could also add a 1/2 cup of liquid humic acid when starting the tea if you have any. helps feed the mico nutrients

Thhanks all. I appreciate the information. I like the idea of a water heater. I brewed for 48 hours and did add humic acid. It bubbled like crazy. I am going to have my next batch tested at the state lab if they can do it.

BTW, I did spread it on the patch. The plants are doing great but the birds are all acting strange. They keep coming to my door like they want more.

Dr. Ingham recommends brewing at the ambient temp. you will be applying the tea at. This selects for the organisms that will be most successful in the environment in which you will be applying them.
