I am having trouble finding non-sterlized worm castings. The local hydroponics store sells them quite reasonable but they are sterlized. They tell me all their suppliers worm castings are sterlized.
Can these be used effectivly for compost tea?

I think any you buy commercially will be sterilized, still good for tea though

John, we use commercial castings here in the landscape trade, I have been to the source and non of them are sterilized. The supplier raises African Crawlers and packages the castings direct out of his sorting operation. For a few years he was the largest distributor on ebay.
Check around, personally I doubt that sterlized castings would be worth much for tea, it's the bacteria we are after.

The whole point of making compost tea is to extract and replicate the benefiical soil organisms. If it's sterilized, there's really no point in my opinion.
