Would Kelp meal or Alfalfa pellets be good worm food/bedding?? I would like to know what you think and why thanks. Steve

I would be inclined to add them to the finished vermicompost as food resources for the microbes, about a week prior to brewing. You could also use the kelp meal as part of your tea recipe, though the alfalfa would be much better in meal form for the actual brewing process.

we prepare our tea first, then add any water soluable kelp/fish/etc/ to the finished 25 gal batch just before application to plant and /or soil.

there is enough worm castings and nutrient solution in our tea formula to produce a very effective tea. for that reason we apply any additional boost at the end.

it would NOT be good for bedding for the worms, if i read your question correctly. shredded newspaper/cow manure (aged)/leaves are your best bedding for your worms. you can feed them very small amounts of the alfalfa but be careful, it can sour and get hot when it starts breaking down. feed them your leaves, the paper, leftover veggie scraps, no meat or dairy products, no salts or oils on the food you put in there. they will love you for it. keep it moist but not wet. sqeeze the bedding, if you get only 1 drop of water, thats where you want it, any more than that it will go anerobic and kill the herd.
