I found this somewhere but can't recall where? Does this sound like a good mix to feed my worms? 5 parts chick starter 2 parts wheat bran 2 parts alfalfa pellets 1 part whole wheat flour 1 part ag lime 1 part powdwer milk

steve, that's fine, but you dont add but very little when you add it. it will heat up and sour your bin if you add too much of it. that is what most call a worm fattener recipe. tons of protein in it and the powderd milk gives them calcium to toughen them up, the ag lime helps control the acidity in the bin. that mixture is basically a once every 2 week type food to keep them fat and happy, but remember, too much can cause protein poisoning ;)

steve, have to make sure what your seeing are not pot worms, they are tiny white worms, they dont hurt anything but its a sign of acidic environment in the bedding. the worms do go in cycles, each worm will lay 1-3 cocoons per week, each cocoon can have from 1-21 worms in those tiny little things. It takes 21 days or 3 weeks to go from fresh cocoon to hatchling. So every 3 weeks they will hatch out. 6 weeks from hatching, they become adult breeders noted by the the clitellum ( thats the little white band) around the worm. Let me know if you need anything else

pot worms are normal in a since unless you seeing a decline in your worm population. AG lime is what you want to use and when i say very little, i mean very little. Too fast of a change in ph can and will kill your worms as well as burn the little guys to death.
