Tomorrow I plan on spraying my plants with their first dose of compost tea (if the brew finishes good). Would the chlorine in calcium chloride, if added right before spraying, kill microbes and hinder the batches effectiveness?

I believe the chlorine in calcium chloride is bound in a different form. I think the salt is more of an issue than the chlorine. Why are you spraying it anyway?

Best answer would be to spray them separately though if you need to spray the calcium chloride, or a microscope test to see if it damages the microbes. I'd spray the calcium chloride 1st and then follow up with the tea, rather than vice versa.

Thanks Tad! The calcium chloride is just to give the plant a little extra calcium. I normally mix it with the fish and seaweed I spray the leaves with, but I am planning on mixing the fish and seaweed in with the compost tea when I go to spray the plants and was concerned the calcium chloride would harm the microbes. I guess I'll save it for later on.
