The Master Gardener Award is one of the hardest awards to win. In order to qualify a grower must enter at least 5 different categories at the GPC weigh-offs.

There were 45 growers who qualified for the Master Gardener award in 2019. The qualifying growers are separated out and rank against each other for each category. Points are awarded based on the number of qualifying growers (45). First place in each category received 45 points, second place 44 points and so on down the list. The points are then totaled to determine the Master Gardener for the year.

We are happy to announce the 2019 Master Gardener of the year is > Joe Jutras.

Joe had an outstanding year. Joe had the highest score in three categories, Squash, Giant pumpkins and Bushel Gourds. He placed 2nd in the master gardener scoring in Long Gourds and 9th place in Watermelons for a total score of 216 points.

Hi Jay I reviewed my work sheets and found that you entered both the PGPGA and the Ohio Valley giant pumpkin growers events. I have 8 entries under Jay Yohe and 1 under Joseph Yohe. Is Joseph a family member or data entry issue? Because of the difference in names I missed one of your entries. I will get the information updated and posted soon. Hi Jay the qualifiers have been updated. I have a hard time with the data entry errors. Because of that I know I miss entries along the way. In many cases I just make mistakes. I appreciate everyone looking over the results who help me find the mistakes. Thank you Jack
