I know its not a problem everywhere but the post office sends padded envelopes through rollers out here and the rollers can crush seeds. Happened again this year! If you are paying for a parcel, get the better service you are paying for -- stuff the envelope so it gets handled as a parcel not an envelope. One piece of newspaper or a handful of rice foam should be sufficient.

Nothing wrong with saving a couple bucks sending seeds via two stamp envelope if you think that they will make it.
Just... Know that out here they go very quickly through heavy rollers.

One of our club board member uses either 1/2in or 3/4in PVC pipe and places the seed in there and tapes the end. As far as I know no seeds sent have been crushed. I think just stuffing the packages s is sufficient. Either way, if the packs appear to contain something the postal service will treat the package better and they will not send it through the rollers.
