Hey all, is anyone familiar with a halfway decent seed line that doesn't have any 2009 Wallace influence (which would also rule out 2145 McMullen influence)? We're playing with some ideas for diversity and wondered if anyone had any intel on seeds. Thanks!

Being a NY Grower do some research on Haist seeds. 1969 Haist pops into mind right away. I know he doesn't know what he's doing (lol) but it's worth a shot looking. I might have an extra.

Haist is I believe the largest that also did not have 2009 pollinator.. We had this discussion a few years ago. I do not know if it has changed. You have to get the right year of seed though. He has had two that weighed the same, one with 2009 and one without.

the 1969 Haist 2014 is available in the BHGPG raffle. I still have one left in my collection of seeds to grow. Maybe next year I will try to germinate it. We have all these other contests...maybe we should have one for the biggest without the 2009.

Werner and Marsall seeds might be worth a look and Haist too. I have 1415 Haist which was the 1969x self and the pollinator to the 2003? Not sure I got the info there correct. The 1381 checkon is the same genetics as the 2009 but doesnt have the 2009? It is a very potent seed. If I am making mistakes its because I am going off memory alone. Hope your research leads somewhere. There may be some west coast seeds, Cal guys might have some interesting old lines. It takes research, and there will be quite a few dead ends.

It could be a good pollinator. It would provide good shape and color to the descendant seeds.

I have old seeds that go way back to almost 1990 . Some of them would have baseline genetics to add.David Garrell

Looking at the thread that Andy W posted....really good info. Did we lose the 898 knauss maternal line? I do not have time to do the research.

Some good oldies that come to mind: 1556 Werner 1156 Larson 1458 Whittier 1354 Checkon
I have a 1556 that I will try this year. Also have an old 1556x1354 seed as backup

If you were interested in the 898 maternal genetics, the 1156 Larson would be a really good place to start. There’s also the 1291 Rodonis, which is a little younger and is 1156 x 1370 Rose. Brett Cooper grew another amazing 898 more recently- 1257 lbs, orange, and +25% to chart. There’s a picture of it on here. Search “1257” and look for “1257.5 Hester 2007”

You might like the 1634 Werner. It grew the 1811 Graham, 1723 Marshall, 1813 Northrup. 1800.5 Hoelke is also interesting.

gary...1625 crossed into a non 2009 could be interesting. I am thinking about growing a 1969 2014...but the pollinator of that one was the 1495. The 1625.5 was 1495 X 1495. I have a 1625.5 seed....what to cross it with?
