On Facebook today I learned of the passing of Mr GREG KURKOWSKI. Sent me into immediate TearZ..... A member of the Gang of 4 @ Niagara Convention where I met him first time, Sunday night at the bar, EddyZ, ToddK, GregK, Wizzy. I member it well, had me a 898 Knauss, and a 84* Eaton in me pocket. Ice leaned over and said, "hey young grower, you might want to wait a few years to plant thoZe, till you know what yer doing ehh>?" My reaction was, "who the F are U? Z bought me another drink, and we became instant friendZ... Todd Kline enlightened us all on Curling.. IT was the first time I saw it "ehhh?" Ill go to my grave, remembering all the great friends, pumpkin friends, that mean SO much to all of us, and now as we get older...seemed to be too many to remember... BUT Never Forget.

I loved U Greg, MAY you REST in PEACE now in that Giant Pumpkin patch in the sky... where all seedZ are FREE, and the 10K barrier has already been broken.... say HI to all for me... See you someday again..............................................

Immensely sorry to hear of our loss; He was always there at the Conventions and wanted to trade seeds with me - A really nice guy and one whom made an effort to actually listen for once; May he rest in peace in a nice, quiet patch of Heaven. Eric G

Another seminar buddy has passed on. Greg (aka Sandwich) always made the trek from South Dakota to Niagara Falls and never complained about the hassles he had to go through with the traveling. He was one of those growers you would meet at the seminar and end up spending a lot of time with whether it would be at the bar or going out on various excursions with. Small groups would get a little bigger each year and more great memories would pile up. Greg also loved dancing and was light on his feet and he didn't have a mean bone in his body. Rest In Peace Sandwich.

I was lucky enough to be in the Hotel restaurant booth, arrival night for a Niagara Convention almost 20 years ago, sitting with Greg, George Webster and Shellie Rivard, the moment Greg got his "Sandwich" nickname. We couldn't stop laughing, so as I'm sad here today, I'm going remember all the good and fun times with Greg, may he R.I.P.!

Will certainly miss Greg. We always enjoyed talking pumpkin and seeing the sights at the Niagara seminars until the sun came up in the 2007-2010 time frame. Congrats to Greg for the 1823 South Dakota record last year.
