Is there anything in seven granular that would be bad for the plant or soil? Is it fine to use?

I will be surprised if anybody has a horror story. The main ingredient is bifen which most growers use as a spray. It is a contact killer, so it will be nice "Apocalypse Now" moment, but it will fade away.

That is crazy, Sevin was always carbaryl, now they changed the active ingredients and still call it by the same name. One more reason for growers to familiarize themselves with (active ingredient) of the chemicals they are using and also the percentage of active ingredient. The companies are always changing everything. They love to decrease the % active ingredient and keep the price the same.

A granular is not protecting your plant from the pests you need to stop. it is more of a lawn pesticide.

Sevin switched the ai a couple years ago. You can still get carbaryl in bigger jugs.

As far as using either formulation in the soil - the worms won't be happy, that's for sure. Neither is a systemic, so don't expect protection from cuke beetles, ect unless you put something additional on the leaves.

In past years, I have used Sevin dust (not granular) on leaves for cuke beetles.

A couple years ago I had such a bad vibe borer problem that it killed my whole plant and I didn’t get a pumpkin. I asked a guy at a garden store and he said that the vine borers Hybernate in the ground and if I sprinkle the seven granular at the beginning of every season it kills all the hibernating borers. I’ve done it every year since and in the past 3 years I’ve seen 2 vine borers total. I think this only works because I live in a suburban neighborhood where almost no one has gardens and I don’t think there’s any pumpkin plants within in a mile. What I’m trying to figure out is if the seven granular is bad for the soil to the point where I should stop using it because it kills to much of the biology.

I spray eight on my plants every couple weeks or whenever I see cute beetles and it takes away the problem by the next morning
