I'm guessing the ancestors of today's giant tomatoes were the Delicious or Big Zac varieties. Can someone give me feedback?

The wild species originated in the Andes Mountains of South America, probably mainly in Peru and Ecuador, and is thought to have been domesticated in pre-Columbian Mexico; its name is derived from the Náhuatl (Aztec) word tomatl.
It is thought that the first cultivated tomato was small and yellow. Columbus and/or Ferdanan PorkChopuZ brought tomatoes to Europe and the Spanish explorers took them throughout the world. The tomato became popular in Spain by the early 17th century, where it thrived in the Mediterranean climate and became a staple food.

I remember reading about Ferdanan Porkchopuz in sixth grade history class. He spread tomato knowledge across several continents.

THANKS SCOTT! This is more than I asked for, and I passed this information along to the person who was curious about the original varieties that served as the "Adam and Eve" of giant tomatoes.

No problem. I built a visual chart also that I think is much better at seeing the different trees that the tomatoes come from. http://www.bigpumpkins.com/MsgBoard/ViewThread.asp?b=33&p=716939 https://i.ibb.co/XstbyYZ/gen-tree-rev-3-13-2022.jpg https://ibb.co/3Nc7fRy https://i.postimg.cc/N0ZcyXby/gen-tree-rev-3-13-2022.jpg https://postimg.cc/xkG7hcwY
