I am thinking about growing one this year and have a few questions about growing one. What kind space am I going to need ? Do the vines grow just like pumpkins ? When is the best time to put in the ground ?

I set aside a space about 20x20 for each plant. The vines grow similar to pumpkin vines and will root at the leaf junctions. I don't put them into the ground until the middle of May, but thats here in Canada. It's still cold and the plants need to be covered with a small greenhouse. You have nicer weather than us at that time of year, so you might want to get a hold of some growers closer to your area to find out their planting dates. Hope this helps.......Phil
