Hi. Looking for some info on growing these. The finer points would be nice, but I really just need the basics (sq.ft., fertilizer, planting times, and all that). Thanks, AleX Noel.

Email me. My wife grew a 207.6# watermelon in 2005. It might be more suited to our cooler weather.

Just thought Id drop in my two cents worth. I plan on growing giant watermelons this year. For the past two years I have grown "Jubilee". First try up to 40 lbs, second year 71 lbs. Pretty good for a variety that only grows to about 20 lbs. I use products from Nitron Ind from Arkansas. The SeaGrow Plus is great. Now Im looking for some giantwatermelon seeds. I have also grown giant pumpkins, up to about 450 lbs. The growing of watermelons is about the same as any warm season vegetable and I believe the giants take about 115-120 days to mature. Soil should be sandy loam with one melon per vine about 12 feet apart in all directions. The worst pest would be critters and the dreadded cuke beetle. Good luck.
