can anyone tell me if anyone has grown any really big watermelon this year and if i could get any seed to try and grow in england.

Beanman, check out our website at www.gvgo.ca My wife Jane grew a 207.6# watermelon last year & wrote an article about growing giant watermelons for our website. This year her biggest was 194.4#. Email me & I'll fix you up with a few for the price of a postage. Good luck.

Yes, I have grown a number of large watermelons over the last few years. In 2005 I grew a 211 and a 218. In 2006, I grew a 202 and 225. Over the last few years I have also grown 197, 187, 179, 157, 157.5, and many others.

I posted a more recent post about how to get seeds (free) from me. I also include a sheet of growing tips for giant melons.

If I can grow them in Minnesota, I suspect you can grow them in England.
