Who likes the idea of having a little watermelon growing contest right here on BP? Simple rules, no major prizes. Maybe everyone who wants in just throws a seed or two into a kitty and the winner takes it.

Simple rules like:

1. You must keep a diary here on BP of your melon plant through the season. This way everyone would have access to info on what worked and what didn't.
2. The watermelon must be weighed at a weigh-off, not on some other scale.
3. Heaviest solid fruit wins.

Would anyone be interested in this?

This will be my first year of growing a giant watermelon. It seems not that many people grow these and the info out there is somewhat limited at this point in time. Hopefully a little contest like this can get more people interested and help to improve the knowledge base. This should be fun.
