I have noticed variation in seed color, but more importantly I have seen variation on seed size. I think the whiter seeds are less mature. It seem they start to discolor when the melon starts rotting. Of course I have received seeds that where reddish, but that's from people that don't wash the seeds before they dry them.

What do people think about seed size as a correlation on quality of plant that is grown?

There are white seeds and brownish red seeds. My 168 in 2006 was redish brown and the 168.5 last year was white seeded.Brights have both brown seeded and white seeded melon seeds and cross the two sometimes and are listed that way on the order form.
