This evening I noticed the stem was dead all the way thruogh on my melon.So I went ahead and cut it loose and brought it inside.It was about what I thought as far as weight.It goes about 95 pounds.I think it will hold up OK till the fair starts next Friday.I don't expect to win.I would be VERY surprised.I think I'll go ahead and enter it though, just for the fun of it.Thats what it's all about anyway.I am determined to do better next year.

Good Luck at the Fair. Wish I could enter, but wont be around. My melon is still growing, I check it yesterday and the stem still looks green but the tendril near it is brown. Hopefully it will make it till the end of Sept. Will post a pict later today.

Tennessee Dreamer, How old in days from polination was yours when you picked it ? Trying to gage mine which is 58 days old. mine still growing, but i cut the tendril off a while back so i can't use that as a guide.

Good luck at the fair Tennessee. I saved you some seeds if your still interested. Smokey Mtn. I picked mine at about 75 days, but I seen little growth after 60 days. I had a rotten spot in one of them so I just picked all of them. I would just pick it when your sure it quits growing.

If I remember correctly, I polinated my melon on June 16.
