Hey does the stem end grow more and or faster than the blossom end. I noticed the vine on a couple of my melons were riding/rubbing up against the fruit. There was plenty of space between the two just a few days ago and I haven't moved them.

I assume you are asking if the melon grows both directions, towards the flower and towards the stem. Yes, I have them doing that, and what I do is periodically pull the melon back a little to alleviate stress on the vine.

MMM, Have you ever had one brake off due to growth toward the stem ? They seem to be pretty plyable after about 10 days, but i was just wondering.

Scott, yes mine do the same as yours are doing & I move them as needed.

I try to be very careful with the stem. It generally is pliable and does not break, but it still bothers me when I move it. So I only move it short distances at a time and let the growth of the stem catch up with the movement.

I know that some people rotate or turn their melons so they end up nice and round and do not have a yellow spot on the bottom. I tried this once and it seems to put a serious amount of strain on the stem. So now, I just pull them away from the stem and consider that enough.
