I purchased some watermelon seeds at the ovgpg weigh off last Sat. When I got home I opened up the envelope to take a look at them. All 5 seeds are white. Maybe I am wrong here, but I thought that the white seeds are immature seeds.( These are seeds from the LARGE mellon variety.)
Are they ok ??

If your seed are filled out and intact and not paper thin and flimsy they should be OK.Of course there are Carolina Cross seeds that aren't mature but it would take a really terrible person to intentionally sell non viable seed for a profit.I guess you know that these seed are often quite difficult to germinate and that it takes very warm temps to get them going most of the time.

I would also comment that some of the CC seeds can be rather red in color.

Because of the bad growing season here in Minnesota, most of my seeds are not viable.

MMM, I will happily share seed out of my 207. This melon had a lot of potential beyond what was realized. Although it may be crossed with another variety, it is more likely self pollinated or crossed with another Carolina Cross. I am hoping it is selfed and I will be growing it next year. The seed are already in the freezer so let me know if you want to give them a try.

Thank you for the offer. I haven't started looking for seed, but I definitely appreciate your offer.

Tennessee Dreamer, I'd be happy to have seed from your 207. I would be glad to trade you my 479 pumpkin seed (which also had a lot of potential, and the same lineage on the seed). Unknown father (night runner perhaps). I've never grown giant watermelons before, but am sure looking forward to trying it.
