Chris, guys,
Do any of you know about mushroom compost. Would it be good for watermelons? I can get it easily but did'nt know if it was good for watermelons or even pumpkins. I know it is high is dissolved salts so it can keep some seed from germinating, but we transplant everything anyway.Let me know what you think. I got brights tips in some seed I ordered this year. I am glad someone shared with others. They are very helpful.
Thanks again and let me know what you think.
John

Many years ago I bought a truck load of mushroom compost for a new flower bed. I had the most awesome flowers that year I have ever grown. I too am interested in the benefits & any negatives of useing mushroom compost for growing Carolina Cross melons.

I have heard that its good, but have never used any. I believe any rotted organics would be good, in moderation depending on your soil condition. With the rains we get, i wouldn't think salt would be a problem.
