Just wondering what kind of results you got from the Mountain Hoosiers this year?

I picked the first one Sunday. It weighed 101 pounds. Got one more that likes a while, Should end up heavier. They are fun to grow. They start off nearly as fast as a CC but slow down quickly. Also shorter growing time. I crossed one with the 259 Kent and selfed one. Next year I'm going to cross the two. Hopefully add some size and preserve color. I'll let you know how the other one turns out. Thanks for the seeds.

Tennessee, How do you know when to pick the mountain Hoosier? Is it the same as a regular melon. (Brown tendril nearest the melon)

They are like a CC I pickem when they quit growing. The tendril was dead long before it quit growing.

Jake is right & also they are a lot earlier then a CC. Mountain Hoosier is one of the best tasting melons I have ever had the pleasure of eating.

Dennis, We ate the 101 at a birthday party last night. Very good, good as any small eatin melon to me, but much more fun to grow. They taste much better than a CC.
